How To Solve Behavior Problems Of High School Students?

There are plenty of issues that the high school kids face in school. They tend to get upset about small things and have many common issues and problems at school. It is very easy for adults or the teachers in the classroom to help these kids get rid of the probes they face in the class. Scolding or punishing them for the wrongdoings in class will not fetch good results it is important to be patient and to try out other ways and means to help them get rid of their problems.

Behavior

  •         Talking back

This is a common issue that we notice in kids. If they are into minor murmurings that do not come to your ears, then you need to leave it alone. It is important for you to anticipate and have an idea of when the student can retaliate or challenge the authority. There are times when students will try to act bossy with substitute teachers. It is better off to make a change to this environment at school by offering training to the students to help the substitute teacher.

  •         Lying

Many of the spoiled students in high school will develop the habit of lying. If you come to know that the student is not telling the truth and is lying to you, then you should never ask him about it or question him. You need to present the matter by making a statement like you hit someone first or you wrote on the board first. If you ask questions to the student, then he or she will be tempted to give you a smart comment. If you talk him through his behavior whenever he is caught lying, then he might correct this bad quality.

  •         Not doing school work

The spoilt brats will not do the homework or school work given to them and also would not have the habit of submitting assignments. There is no point in scolding him or asking him to write the assignment 10 times. The better option is to get the child to solve the problem and instill the thought in him that both of you can solve the problem jointly. The child might be having some learning problems and giving more time to him will help you to identify the issue. Make sure that the difficulty of the assignment be matched with the skill level that the student possesses. You need to sympathize and drive the student to work on the assignment.

How To Deal With Kids Moving From Middle School To High School?

Time flies and within a blink of your eye, your little Joe or Tressa is all set to join high school. They are no longer kids that you can easily engage by putting them in front of cartoon channels. They are now teens and have entered a special phase in their lives. This is a very dangerous age where they can get easily spoilt if you do not have an eye for the kids. They are excited to join the high school and this is where they get to learn a lot about the outside world as well.

  •         Be prepared for the move

No matter the move from middle school to high school is a big excitement or frightening to a parent or the child, it is important to be prepared to face the new music. The transition from middle school to high school can be smooth and easy by following these simple steps.

  •         New school dress code

The new school would be having a different dress code and make sure that both and you and your child is aware of this beforehand. The schools will not tolerate girl students from wearing revealing blouses, deep necklines, and short skirts and boys need to wear only plain shirts with no graphics or wording on them. The shirts need to be tucked inside the pants and they must wear a belt. The students should not be allowed to make their own fashion statement in schools as far as dressing is concerned. The parents should never encourage this. These days high school issue dress codes and ask the students to stick to it.

  •         Use of gadgets

It is the duty of the parents to make sure that their children leave their iPods, iPads, CD players, mobile phones and other electronic devices they have at home and not carried it to school. It is the duty of the kids to pay attention to what the teacher teaches in the class and not to play with these electronic items. Even though the smartphones and digital cameras are allowed on most campuses, you as a parent should not allow your child to take these pesky items to school. Ask them to make use of the phone in the reception room or the school office to call you for an emergency.

  •         Transportation

It is always better to opt for school transportation to pick and drop your kid from home to school land vice versa. You should think otherwise only if your child has to rush for some other sports activities or tuitions right after the school.

The Growing Issues And Challenges Faced By High School Students

The high schools these days are not like the high schools you as parents attended in the 60s or 70s. Many term the high school students of the modern days as slackers or druggies. While most of these activities exist in some places, they are not omnipresent in all schools. These days’ students are very busy with a lot of things right from chatting with their friends on mobiles to playing their favorite sport. The high schools are not an insulated place now and there are plenty of activities that take place there.

High School Students

Exposure to risky behaviors

There are plenty of opportunities for high school kids these days than before. They can take part in a lot of school activities, do part-time jobs, come to school in car and motorbikes, etc. Everyone is on the fast track now. The exposure to the modern world of the internet and telecommunications have added risk to the lives of the high school kids They are not under the watchful eyes of their parents like before and hence may take up to alcoholism, drugs, and sex. Many kids want to succeed in life at a very early age and have a notion that they have a better understanding of the world. They are facing a future in a society that keeps on changing every day.

Need of money

The high school kids are in need of money and they know that they can make money for their fun activities by taking up part-time jobs. Kids are also aware of the tough challenges and competition that they are facing in the educational field and they want to be competitive in order to get better scores and enjoy better positions when they enter college. Their lives have changed a lot from what we used to do in our high school days. These days’ kids talk about sex openly, they watch ugly films, smoke in public and they watch explicit and brutal things. The world is changing and it is moving at a fast pace. Kinds also want to keep pace with the world and hence engage in a lot of things. If the high school activities are engaging, then more and more kids will not have a lot of time to devote to risky behavior. There is the need for money always and hence high school kids look to take up part-time jobs to save for their college education, pay car insurance, car dues and clothing.
