Activities
Whitewater Rafting
Each year the cadets have an opportunity to go on a battalion-wide whitewater rafting trip. We take a bus up the Ocoee River and raft down the rapids. All the cadets have a great time and come back each year to participate again and again. This is a great experience for the cadets teaching them how to react timely and effectively and work well with others. We plan to continue this tradition of going whitewater rafting for years to come.
Mass Casualty
Mass casualty is not an every year occurence. This year we trained the sophomores and freshmen how to do first aid in response to a tragic disaster. The Upper Classmen pretended as if they were casualties of a tornado, while using fake-plastic (but realistic) pre-made wounds. We also made
concoctions of corn syrup, corn starch and red dye to give the effect of fake blood to help create a more realistic idea of what a tragedy would look like and how to help aid the cadets.
The cadets had extensive training the week before on how to do first aid. The cadets had no idea that Mass Casualty was planned for them the following week. Overall, Mass Casualty was a great success and the lower classmen effectively dealt with situations.
JCLC
This upcoming summer, East Ridge High School will have the privilege to participate in JCLC to help manifest leadership qualities among cadets. The cadets will be learning about leadership and how to lead from June 1st to June 4th. The Pioneer Battalion will be in Charlie Company and have been given 13 spots for cadets to go to JCLC. The instructor for this will be Sergeant Major McCosh. The cadets will be conducting this at Boxwell Boy Scout Camp, near Murfreesborough , TN.
