Cadet Battalion Staff

The cadet battalion staff is comprised of the Colonel of Cadets, the Battalion Commander, Chief of Staff, the S-1(Adjutant), S-2 (POI), S-3 (Training) S-4 (Supply), S-5 (Special Projects), and the Command Sergeant Major. The battalion relies on these for their specific areas of expertise to help the battalion's overall success.

Colonel of Cadets -Cadet Colonel Edelmary Matinez

The Colonel of Cadets is the only cadet over the Battalion Commander. The Colonel of Cadets assists the SAI and AI's on how the Battalion is performing, and informs the Battalions Commander on what needs to be improved.

Duties of the Colonel of Cadets Include:

1. Setting the Example for all cadets by high standards of integrity, professional knowledge, conduct and courtesy, physical fitness, and personal appearance.
2. Make on the spot corrections of violations
3. Makes sure the Battalion is performing properly, and that the Battalions is meeting expectations and requirements as directed by the Senior Army Instructor.

Battalion Commander- Cadet Colonel Joshua Vipond

The Battalion Commander is the overall leader of the battalion, every thing that needs to be done must be sent through the Battalion Commander for approval. The Battalion Commander is chosen by the AIs (Army Instructors) and by the SAI (Senior Army Instructor) to lead the battalion. The Battalion Commander is chosen on many qualities such as leadership potential, scholastics, community service, and school support.

Duties of the Battalion Commander Include:

1. Setting the Example for all cadets by high standards of integrity, professional knowledge, conduct and courtesy, physical fitness, and personal appearance. Teach and practice character development and good citizenship.

2. Make on the spot corrections of violations
3. Maintain strong discipline and take the initiative for insuring that things are done right and timely.
4. When assigned a period of instruction, plan ahead, prepare, and conduct training of cadets with enthusiasm and concern. Make the training interesting and productive.
5. Make constant checks to see that cadets are maintaining their uniforms and equipment properly and practicing supply economy
6. Keep cadets informed of what is going on and why. Make sure they are aware of objectives and solicit their ideas when appropriate
7. Delegate duties and functions to subordinate cadets commensurate with their rank and positions. Insure that every assigned task is understood, supervises and accomplished. Openly praise cadets who do a good job; privately critique those whose performance falls short.
8. Guard against being overbearing or using abusive or profane language toward cadets. Prohibit the use of such action and language among cadets.
9. Promote and enthusiastically participate in school and community activities.
10. Cooperate with each other; delight in helping each other excel.
11. Make our Corps of Cadets and our school the best-- promote esprit de corps

Chief of Staff- Cadet Lieutenant Colonel Zach Eller

The Chief of Staff is the head of the staff. It is the Chief of Staff's duty to run the staff and ensure that the sfaff is completing their duties.

Additional Duties of the Chief of Staff Include:

1.
Assumes command of the battalion in the absense of the battalion commander
2.
Recommends job assignments and/or relief from job assignments
3.
Recommends promotions, demotions, and awards.
4.
Serves as an advisor to the battalion commander in formulating policy and plans for the battalion.
5.
Serves as Commander of Troops during the Annual Formal Inspection, Sponsor Presentation, etc.
6. Directs, coordinates, and supervises the battalion staff.
7. Performs additional duties as directed by the battalion commander.

S1 (Adjudant)- Cadet Major Jeweli Gilbride

The Battalion Adjudant recieves the report of the battalion formations from the company commanders, plans award ceremonies, prepares and publishes any neccisary orders for the opporation of the battalion. The S1 maintains the cadet records and personal files of every cadet within the battalion.

1. Prepares all corrospondence for the battalion
2.
Publishes all orders pertaining to the battalion
3.
Designates a company for flag detail each month of the school year.
4.
Maintains and posts JROTC student record cards.
5.
Corrects uniform violations when observed.

S2 (POI)- Cadet Major Clifton Selfon

The battalion S2 assists the battalion commander and the instructor staff in matter pertaining to unit security and enforces the provisions of the security requirements for the battalion. The S2 also completes inventory.

Duties of the S2 include

1. Keeps the battalion informed on current events.
2. Keeps the bulletin board(s) neat and current
3. Assist the S1 during peak administrative periods
4. Corrects uniform violations when observed.
5. Checks inventory on a weekly basis.

S3 (Training)- Cadet Major Alica Barkley

The battalion S3 assist the battalion commander in preparation, conduct, and supervision of all training activites of the cadet battalion. Additionally the S3 keeps the commander advised on the progress of training within the battalion.

Duties of the S3 include

1. Prepares, and posts on the bulletin board, and files weekly training schedules.
2. Maintains reference on files and reference library
3. Maintains a record of all extracurricular activities in which the battalion is involved.
4. Plans drill competition between units of the battalion
5. Responsible for making the parade field and the upkeep of the marking equipment
6. Corrects uniform violations when observed.
7. Performs additional duties as directed by the battalion commander.

S4 (Supply)- Cadet Major Brittany Huntley

The battalion logistics, or supply officer, is responsible for the maintenance, security, record keeping, issuem and turn-in of all U.S. government property. The S4 coordinates the securing of prperty with the S2.




Additional Duties include:


1. Responsible for maintenance of the JROTC building
2. Assists the Army Instructor in receiving, issuing, and inventorying uniforms and supplies
3. Assists the Army Instuctor in maintaining individual clothing records
4. Insures that they supply room is clean, neat, and orderly at all times
5. Informs the Army Instructor of shortages and availablility of expendable supplies
6. Corrects uniform violations when observed.

S5 (Special Projects)- Cadet Major Elizabeth Huntley

The battalion special projects officer is in charge of every special event that JROTC participates in or creates. The special projects officer is the officer in charge of the annual Military Ball, other dances throughout the year, and preparation for annual parades. Also the S5 creates and provides the JROTC newsletter that comes out once a month while maintaining the JROTC website.

Additional Duties include:

1. Plan and coordinate special projects as outlined by the cadet battalion commander, cadet battalion XO, or the instructor staff.
2. Maintain records on all activities and coordination as they pertain to each project.
3. Keep the cadet battalion commander, cadet battalion XO, and the instructor staff informed as to the progress of, or any problems encountered with the projects.
4. Prepares news releases and reports JROTC news to local/school newspapers
5. Maintains a scrapbook of all JROTC activities and records of the batllion history as it occurs.
6. Maintains the JROTC website.

Command Sergeant Major- Cadet Command Sergeant Major Jeremy Dean

The battalion command sergeant major is the principle cadet enlisted assistant to the battalion commander. As the senior enlisted member of the cadet corps, the commander sergeant major supervises the other noncommissioned officers of the battalion and companies.

Specific duties include:

1.
Assist subordinate NCOs, the battalion XO, and the adjutant with administrative duties/ details.
2.
Advise and assist the battalion commander in all matters pertaining to the enlisted members of the cadet battalion.
3.
Assist the adjutant in the formation and alignment of hte battalion at all battalion formations
4.
Recieve lists of absentees from the companies and submit them to the adjutant
5.
Supervise the color guard and all flag details. Ensure that company first sergeants sibmit their weekly flag details on time, post those rosters, and ensure that members selected for detail recieve their notification slips prior to the assignment.
6.
Ensure that flag details are properly trained.
7.
Ensure that the battalion area, including the drill field is maintained in a high state of police at all times, and that JROTC offices and classrooms are kept neat and orderly.
8.
Preside over all noncommissioned officer promotion boards.
9.
Assume command of the battalion in the absense of all officers.
10.
Perform other duties as assigned by the battalion commander, battalion executive officer, or the instructor staff.
