History of the Pioneer Battalion

In 1967 The East Ridge JROTC Pioneer Battalion was created, a prosperous program that has reigned in this school ever since. The Pioneer Battalion is also possibly the first JROTC program to ever have a female battalion commander in the year 1978.

 

Honor Unit With Distinction

Honor Unit with Distinction is awarded to the JROTC programs that are in the top 10% of the nation. The Pioneer Battalion first earned the Honor Unit with Distinction in 1968. Then Honor Unit with Distinction was regained in 1978 through 1985. Then from the years 1991 to today the Pioneer Battalion has maintained the Honor Unit with Distinction Award, and we proudly wear the gold star on our uniforms with designates our accomplishments
